| Samaire Armstrong was born on October 31 1980 in Japan. At the age of three she declared to the video camera that she wanted to be an actress. This was however not persued for years, but she did some acting in both high school and at college, performing in stage productions of for example The Hobbit.
During her school years, Samaire and her family moved around a lot and this brought her to places such as Hawaii, Arizona and of course Japan. It was here that she was trained in the martial arts of sword practicing and judo, starting when she was 5 years old. This she has continued through the years and still practices once a week. She says:”We travelled alot. I was always the smaller white girl and I was picked on so I was in a lot of fights” While studying at the University of Arizona, Samaire decided to give acting a chance and headed for Los Angeles, where she soon was cast in the TV-show Freaks and Geeks. This she followed up guest starring in Judging Amy, Party of Five, That’s Life and ER. Her more recent roles include a guest role in the last season of X-Files and films such as the thriller Darkwolf and the comedy Not Another Teen Movie. She has also been involved in a re-telling of The Importance of Being Earnest called Would I Lie To You. When not working she can be found at home designing clothes for her own brand called NARU, which lately has been discovered by the young in Hollywood and has been featured in numerous fashion magazines. Her interest started early when sewing Halloween costumes with her mom, but evolved during high school:”I didn’t want to wear things that other people were wearing. So, I started making clothes that would fall apart less easily. In other words, I just started really trying to perfect clothes enough so they could be wearable through a whole day of school. Then I started making clothes for friends, and by my Senior prom, I was making prom dresses for my friends.” The brand is currently being sold at an exclusive resort in Hawaii. Even though Samaire has just started in Hollywood, she is definitely one to watch out for in the future. |

| SHE SAID |
| “When I was growing up, we had doughnot Sunday. We’d go and get doughnots or croissants. Now I try not to eat that many sweets, but at least I can smell them!”
“It [DuWop Lip Venom] makes your lips all fizzy, like they’re on fire. I thought it’d be funny to use it in a kissing scene, but I thought the guy might freak out.” “Sometimes you’re so tired, you just wanna light some candles and soak in a tub. That’s pure heaven!” “I save my craziness for a New Year’s or a Fourth of July and everyone is in anticipation because they know what’s about to happen. The end of the night is the worst. I always end up by the toilet.” “Colors and fabric bounce my imagination around . . . I may see something pink and be inspired to create something blue.” “One of my friends makes ducktape wallets in his free time. You wouldn’t believe how those wallets are catching on! He should really start a business selling them!” “My home is my dream utopia. I surround myself with things that inspire me — pictures, magazine clippings.” “I am pretty impulsive. My judgments are based entirely on instinct. I have a lot of strong feelings, which impact both my designing and acting.” |
